Good morning Folks,
We had a a fairly choppy day yesterday as the markets absorb and consolidate moving into some significant earnings this week.
This morning we get earnings out of LMT, 3M, BP, FCX, Lilly, JBLU, AK Steel,Coach . After the close we have AAPL, TWTR, CMG, T, EBAY, ABX, BWLD and CREE. That is a a good mix of companies that could act as catalysts for their perspective sectors.
In this weeks stocks to watch video we talked about keeping an eye on the solar industry and I had a significant amount of oil names on my list. Unfortunately oil took a breather yesterday and that wasn't good for either sector. There was also an article out suggesting that the issues SUNE had could be spreading to others names in the solar space. Without reading the article I have no opinion on whether their was any validity to the thesis. However, if oil rolls over and energy names go with it, solar names are likely going to follow.
The IBB continues to consolidate heading into earnings from some of the big boys in the sector on Thursday. Technically the IBB still looks very constructive. SRPT panel denial after the close was disappointing and the stock is getting punished in premarket.
Gold and miners could be consolidating for another move higher but like we talked about over the weekend we need to pay close attention to the strength of the dollar.
Cyber security and agriculture held up extremely well yesterday and remain sectors to keep an eye on.
If the markets start rolling over then volatility is also a place you want to pay close attention to TVIX, UVXY.
