Another month Ends


Good morning Folks, 
Another month will come to an end this week and February is on track to keeps its
streak intact. We are seeing just a hint of red this morning which isn't all that surprising we could just chop around a bit up here as build a base before making our next significant move. There are still some great looking setups out there and we also have some good premarket movers. IN THE NEWS TODAY
U.S. stock futures were lower in early trading, after the Dow Friday joined the S&P 500 in record territory. The Nasdaq currently sits at 15-year highs, after its fifth highest close ever. (CNBC)
The Nasdaq has 5,000 in its sights for the first time since March 2000, when it peaked at 5,135.52. But the dot-com bubble burst shortly thereafter ushered in a punishing slide. (CNBC)

Closely-followed contrarian Marc Faber told CNBC the real concern of a possible Greek exit from the euro could be "a closer relationship with between Greece and Russia or Greece and China."

Battered oil prices were lower again early this morning on worries about oversupply in North America, with Brent futures below $60 a barrel and U.S. crude below $50 a barrel. (Reuters)

But gasoline prices continue their march higher, up 13 cents in the past two weeks to $2.33 per gallon. Since bottoming out in January after a nine-month slide, pump prices have risen 26 cents. (Reuters)

Dish Network (DISH) said CEO Joe Clayton would retire effective March 31and be replaced by founder Charlie Ergen, who's previously served as chief executive. (Reuters)

In an unexpected move, Honda (HMC) CEO Executive Takanobu Ito will step down in late June, after six years in the top post. He'll be succeeded by Managing Officer Takahiro Hachigo. (Reuters)

In a win for Valeant (VRX), which had failed to buy Botox-maker Allergan(AGN), the Canadian drugmaker has agreed to purchase Salix (SLXP) for about $10.1 billion in cash. (Reuters)

Apple (AAPL) plans to spend $1.9 billion on two European data centers to run entirely on renewable energy, the technology giant said Monday. (CNBC)

The Obama administration is warning the possible shutdown of the Homeland Security Department due to a budget dispute would harm the nation's ability to counter the extremists. (AP)

A video purportedly from Somalia's al-Qaeda-linked rebel group al-Shababis urging Muslims to attack shopping malls in the U.S., Canada, Britain, and other Western countries. (AP)

The port in Oakland, California, appeared to have joined others on the West Coast in resuming its normal operations last night, following Friday's tentative labor agreement between dockworkers and their employers. (AP)

President Barack Obama today plans to direct the Labor Department to proceed with new rules to rein in conflicts of interests among Wall Street brokers who advise clients on retirement investments. (Reuters)



BY THE NUMBERS
Before Fed Chair Janet Yellen's testimony tomorrow and Wednesday on Capitol Hill, investors get the week's first major read on the housing market, with January existing home sales this morning.
Tomorrow, it's the S&P Case-Shiller home price report, with new home sales released Wednesday and pending home sales out Friday.

STOCKS TO WATCH
In an SEC filing, Goldman Sachs (GS) said its legal costs may be $3 billion more than it had expected to cover possible penalties for violating laws surrounding mortgage backed securities.
HSBC (HSBC) reported lower-than-expected quarterly profit, and cut its stated target for return on equity. The bank also apologized for compliance failuresat its Swiss private bank.

Japanese chemicals maker Asahi Kasei has agreed to buy Polypore's (PPO) energy storage segment for $2.2 billion. Prior to that acquisition, 3M(MMM) will buy Polypore's filtration business in a deal worth $1 billion.

Discovery (DISCA) has reportedly been the subject of takeover talks with21st Century Fox (FOXA), according to the Australian Financial Review , but Fox in Australia said there's no truth to those reports. (Reuters)


Google (GOOG) has won dismissal of a lawsuit accusing the tech giant of forcing Android smartphone makers to designate Google offerings as the default applications. (Reuters)
