Good morning folks,
The earnings continue to roll in mixed with the TWTR miss and guide down while AAPL beat and also gave tepid guidance. For me TWTR may present an attractive opportunity to look at getting back in with a starter swing or long term hold. I will be watching for it to find an area of potential support while AAPL is gappin right into potential resistance. The dollar continued to consolidate while gold and the miner ETF's staged a little relief rally. Oil had another day of weakness but the energy names continue to hold up fairly well. We get petroleum inventory numbers today and if we get a lager than expected build or a smaller than expected draw that could put more pressure on the black bubbly.
Markets were mixed yesterday but the IBB IWM remain fairly impressive with their resilience and for the SMH its performance has been incredibly strong. Between earnings and merger and acquisitions in the space the sector is on fire.
The markets are flashing green premarket oil is under a little bit of pressure and the metals are basically flat.
We have the Fed today and that could throw some cold water on this red hot market but until that happens we have to be impressed with the strength. If the Fed is unusually dovish, the dollar could weaken giving metals and oil a little bounce. If the statement is hawkish the dollar could strengthen and we could see more pressure on commodities. Don't get caught up in a head fake as the first reaction is typically the wrong move. If you are a day trader scalping the initial move off the statement can be fun. If you are a swing trader or investor let the statement be absorbed, dissected and digested before you try to get involved.
