This weekend we talked about oil and it pulling down the energy names. We talked about needing the IBB to get through resistance. We talked about the airlines looking pretty strong. We talked about gold, and the strength of the dollar.
I said I was fairly bullish short term and I also said that will probably be the kiss of death!
We had a pullback yesterday and we are looking weak again premarket.
The ASH conference which was looking pretty positive for the IBB on Saturday when I did the videos. Then on Sunday that sentiment turned negative when a couple of high profile bio names disappointed with their presentations.
Several indexes are still within a whisper of breaking through technical resistance but we seem to be stalling out a bit. This is fine as long as we just consolidate before breaking through but what we don't want is a high volume sell off where we lose key ares of support.
Even though I was feeling pretty bullish I am always cognizant of the fact that the market doesn't care how I feel or what I think. As a trader, I need to adapt to what is happening in front of me and not what I am thinking might happen.
That doesn't mean I can't speculate and start building a position is a long term hold or potential swing. It does mean that I may need to take a different approach like reducing my position sizing or identifying a new support level for entry. Booking some profit in trades that have been working and cutting the ones that have broken support. I try to keep an open mind and try to adapt to whatever the situation may be. I also know when the market isn't ideal for my style of trade and I should just sit on the sidelines.
Bottom line is the market will rarely do exactly what you think exactly when you think it should. You can't let that bring you down. You just have to keep an open mind and adapt.
Stocks on my radar premarket
Bullish and may have a swing or lottos in play
Cautiously optimistic
Very Cautious may even present a short opportunity ..
